Very Good

Super clean rooms, the staff is very friendly and accommodating. A lot of nice restaurants closeby and it's also easy to reach other parts of the cities as it's close to the metro station.

It gets quite hot during the night, and the room we've got was just next to a busy street with a traffic light. It meant choosing between boiling or getting woken up by aggressive drivers driving through or the green light beamining in our face. Needless to say, sleeping mask and ear plugs is mandatory to have a proper night of sleep.

Exceptional

EVERYTHING! Chalet de Avila serves as my home away from home. I first stayed there during the summer of 2019, and have visited many times since. Most recently, I stayed at Chalet de Avila several week there this summer, so I really got to see, up close and personal, the daily workings of this amazing place which runs smoothly because the of the amazing staff. HECTOR is the absolute BEST as are Lucas, Romulo, and all the others, including the housekeepers who maintain a spotless space. If I could rate this place as a 10+ or 100+ I would. From the moment guests check in, they are greeted with warmth. Samba and Bossa Nova covers always play in the breakfast area to put people in the Portuguese mood to seize the day. I have traveled extensively around Portugal, and the vibe here is the best! The metro station is right across the street but so many famous spots are walkable from the Guest House. And the Saldanha area has most everything you need. A Pingo Doce grocery is only a few doors away, and high-end shopping at the famous El Corte Ingles is nearby as well. With amazing restaurants such as Versailles, The Green Affair, etc. nearby, and a well-equipped kitchen at the house, a guest will never be hungry.

What I did not like were the times over the summer that I had to check out to travel elsewhere. Saying goodbye to Chalet de Avila is never easy, but I will be back and know I will be greeted with open arms. See y'all later! Obrigada!

Excellent value for money, fantastic staff.

The staff here are absolutely wonderful. Check in was a breeze and they were really nice to talk to and happy to give advice. It is also super clean considering it's shared accommodation and we never had to wait for a bathroom or toilet. There is also a very nice scent throughout the hotel. Included breakfast was also adequate and the machine coffee is good. This place is excellent value for money if you don't mind not having an ensuite.

We knew there was no aircon, however the room is only supplied with one small desk fan and the only place you can plug it in is right next to the bed on the nightstand. It's also quite loud even on the lowest setting so this can be quite annoying for the person next to it. A pedestal fan and an extension cord would solve this but it did not overly hinder our stay at all.

Recommend very nice smell place

Reception was great and helpfull. The hotel is very clean and smells really good. I staied only 1 night, but would stay more. Coffee machine was good and we can get coffee and tea 24h

I could hear people walking and closing the door to other rooms, however it didn't disturbe me and i had a good night sleep. Breakfast room was closed when i came, 10 min earlier (i told them i would do it snd it was ok). So i had to wait a little bit. It was not a big problem, but i had to leave at 7:10 and breakfast started at 7, so it would be a bit calmer if i had started before, even if it would not be completly ready.

A great place to stay.

the staff are exceptionally helpful, with lots of tips for a short stay in Lisbon. We were able to leave extra baggage there for 10 days while we travelled elsewhere in southern Portugal. It is very well-located, facing a subway station, with rapid access to the airport or to the centre of town. Good neighbourhood with parks nearby and plenty of good eating places.

Lovely room, very clean. good breakfast staff were very friendly and really helpful

Waiting to use the bathroom, no tea/coffee making facilities in the annexe that our room was in. Location was a bit too far out of the main central tourist area.

Lovely classy rooms. Breakfast was decent and they accommodated my gluten intolerance by providing GF bread. Staff friendly. Nice part of Lisbon too - felt like a real part of the city with lots of locals.

Lovely old apartment building, beautifully kept, and really friendly and helpful staff. The guest sitting room, plus kitchen and glazed terrace were a really nice surprise. I'd definitely stay there again.

Lovely Guest House

We had a bright, airy room at the front of the building. The staff were all lovely and went out of their way to see if you needed anything or just to have a chat. There was lots of variety in the included breakfast. I generally prefer not to share a bathroom, but these bathrooms were cleaned 4x a day, and we hardly ever saw anyone else when we were walking to and from the bathroom, so it felt private! The Guest House is a bit out of the tourist area, but Lisbon has a great public transport network - Saldanha metro stop is just across the road and the bus stop is not to far either.

A couple of things that come along with an older building, so it didn't really bother us: footsteps on the wooden stairs were quite loud (maybe carpeting the stairs could help?), plus the locks were likely original - it sounded like some people definitely struggled with them and made a whole lot of noise trying to open their door.

Wonderful place to stay

Fabulous location across from the train station. A little ways out from the "touristy" stuff, but we were happy about that. It was a beautiful walk down the Liberty Avenue to get to the water, or just a few train stops away. The staff were incredible! Some of the nicest people you could possibly imagine. They give such wonderful advice about where to eat and where to go. The rooms are very big, clean and quaint. It is a comfortable place. Bring earplugs if you're a light sleeper just because it is an older building so you can, on occasion, hear people in the hall. No big deal! They have a cute terrace and complimentary coffee and tea as well. Nice to have a kitchen. I had been worried about the shared bathrooms, but everything was kept very clean and because the bathrooms are completely private, it felt like my own! All in all, a great stay!
